Delhi retail rentals rise, South Extension up by 20% and Karol Bagh by 7%: Report

Track2Realty: In NCR’s retail market, the high street of South Extention (I&II) registered a growth of approximately 21% increase in rental values over the previous quarter, followed by Karol Bagh which registered a growth of 7% in the same period. Khan Market, remained India’s most expensive retail destination with a rental value of INR 1,250/ sf/mth which was higher by 2% over the last quarter. These are the findings of the latest report released by Cushman & Wakefield.

While continued high inflation levels have restrained consumer spending and delayed purchase decisions, the slowdown in economic growth and weak consumer sentiments have resulted in a sense of uncertainity amongst retailers thereby putting expansion plans on hold.

H1 2012 witnesses increase in retailer enquiries across key cities: CBRE

India witnessed increased transaction activity and retailer expansion in H1, 2012. Leading brands and retailers pursued expansion plans aggressively, increasing their presence across key retail hubs. In all the seven cities presented in the review, the retail real estate market appears to be promising with an increase in retailer enquiries. These are the findings of CBRE’s latest report titled “India Retail Market view.”

Over 30% mall supply delayed in 1st half of 2012: Cushman & Wakefield

More than 30% of retail mall space against the projected supply for the first half of the year were deferred, says Cushman & Wakefield report on the retail real estate market. A fresh mall supply for H1 2012 stood at 2.27 million sq. ft. (msf). Approximately one million sq.ft. of expected mall supply was deferred to second half of the year or next year. The overall vacancy rate for the major cities as of H1 2012 stood at 19.6% marginally higher than the previous quarter.
