Liquor and real estate baron Ponty Chadha’s rags to riches empire

Track2Realty: Gurdeep Singh Chadha alias Ponty Chadha, who was killed along with his brother after they fired at each other inside a farmhouse in Delhi’s Chhattarpur area on Saturday, Nov 17, was the sole liquor distributor in Uttar Pradesh. His other business interests included real estate, sugar mills and film production, which he used to look after along with his two brothers – Hardeep and Rajinder. The business empire was reportedly worth Rs 6,000 crore.

Approximately 14% q-o-q decline in prime office space demand in Q3 2012

Track2Realty: Office space absorption witnessed a 14% q-o-q decline during the 3rd quarter of 2012, according to the findings of CBRE’s latest report, India Office Market View Q3, 2012. Prime office space absorption across the 7 key cities reviewed decreased to about 6 million sq ft in the third quarter, compared to more than 7 million sq ft in the previous quarter.

Government consults realtors to cut home prices

Spiraling property prices and slump in home sales have forced the Union Housing Ministry to think out-of-the-box solutions. After the decision to set up a high-level committee to recommend policy interventions to facilitate creation of rental housing stocks, the ministry has now sought views from private developers and builders to evolve a strategy for reducing the time taken in approval of real estate projects that can help bring down the cost of houses.
