NBFC raise rates for realtors

With liquidity from traditional channels like banks and equity markets drying up for property developers, non-banking finance companies (NBFCs) have raised rates for loans to real estate companies by two-three percentage points (200-300 basis points). The rates have gone up from 15-19 per cent to 17-22 per cent. The rates vary according to the developer, the project and the requirement of the company, say NBFCs and consultants.

2024 witnesses record-breaking real estate IPOs; capital raised to the tune of INR 135 Bn

India continues to exhibit strong economic growth prospects and business optimism is reflected in the increasing number of Initial Public Offerings (IPOs) in recent years. HFCs growth upward in Q1 FY2023; asset quality likely to improve in FY’23: ICRA

The reduction in Gross Non-Performing Assets (GNPAs) is forecasted to continue in FY2023 following the reduction of 6 bps in Q1 FY2023. The GNPA assessment has been retained at 2.7-3.0% as of March 31, 2023. With growth in both the scale as well as improvement in asset quality indicators, the profitability is forecasted to revive almost to the pre-Covid level by the end of FY2023.

Will govt. light Indian housing sector’s festive lamp?

Traditionally, the festive quarter fares better than the previous quarters of the year when it comes to housing sales – the combination of religious sentiment and festive deals and freebies is a potent mix during this part of the year. For instance, Q4 2015 saw 70,000 homes sold in the seven major cities. However, as tempting as it was for developers to believe that this was an unshakeable performance standard, it was certainly shaken just a year later. After demonetization (DeMo) was announced in this critical quarter in 2016, housing sales halved to 32,100 units.
