DLF struggles to cut debt, Q1 net falls 18%

Shares in DLF, India’s biggest real estate developer, traded higher in-line with the broader BSE realty index Tuesday, Aug 7, morning. At 11 a.m., the stock traded 1.3 per cent higher at Rs 214 on the BSE. The shares, up 15.4 per cent this year, are lagging a near-21 percent gain in the real estate index.

Emaar net operating profit up 45% at $332 mn in Jan-June

Emaar Properties has reported a 44.35% jump in net operating profit of $332 million for the first six months of this year. The company had posted an operating profit of $230 million in the January-June period of last fiscal. However, total income for the first six months of 2012 remained flat at $1.068 billion, Emaar Properties said in a statement.

Sentiment turns bearish in real estate sector: DTZ Research

The economy is facing difficulties on several fronts, including declining GDP growth, high inflation, high fiscal and current account deficits and depreciation of the rupee. The poor performance of the stock market has attracted a lot of negative press in recent months and this was reflected in the commercial real estate market which remained tepid in Q2 2012, says a DTZ research.

Indians prefer ready-to-move house; find new launches risky

While buying a house majority of the Indians have now matured to pay for ready-to-move property than a castle in the air. No wonder, despite the high appreciation potential, the new launched projects have few takers and there is hardly any market for a pre-launch offer. Thanks to the poor delivery of the real estate developers, unmet commitments and execution risk involved, at least the end users are not interested in new launches anymore.
