Track2Realty: USD 2 Billion (INR 11,854 crores) is available with private equity firms ready to be deployed in real estate, despite a drop in the PE investment in the first half of 2013, says Cushman & Wakefield’s latest report on the private equity (PE) in real estate investment.
Track2Realty: ASK Property Investment Advisors (ASKPIA), the real-estate private equity arm of ASK Group has announced its fifth investment from its second real estate fund. The project which will comprise of residential apartments is expected to have a sales value of around Rs.1000 crores.
Track2Realty-Agencies: Chennai-based real estate firm Real Value Promoters Private Limited plans to raise Rs 100-200 crore from private equity (PE) players for its projects.
I would like to ask the developer friends here when they say there is an ambiguity as far as ECB is concerned. Which are the funding routes that you find without ambiguity—whether it is private equity, QIP, IPO or any other route to raise money?
Gaurav Gupta: I would say there are multiple challenges for the sector.

After the global financial crisis, the pace at which the industry has bounced back is magnificent. Our real estate ecosystem typically comprises of architects, developers, Government & regulatory authorities, financial institutions, private equity players, other funding agencies, brokers, property consultants and of course most importantly the buyers.
Track2Realty Exclusive-Yearly Analysis: The first visible sign of creditors losing patience came in October 2012 when two private equity funds, Citi Property Investors and JPMorgan Chase, initiated separate arbitration proceedings against BPTP on the grounds that it has failed to provide a time-bound exit for their respective investments in the company.
Track2Realty: Tata Housing has got an investment by Portman Holdings into its luxury housing project “The Promont” in Bengaluru. This is the first private equity funding for a Tata Housing project.
Track2Realty: The first three quarters of 2012 witnessed a fall in the quantum of private equity investments in the real estate sector. The private equity investments is recorded at INR 35 billion which is approximately 15% lower than same period last year. The total number of private equity transactions till date in 2012 is 23, marginally lower when compared to same period last year. These are the findings of the latest Investment market report from real estate consultancy Cushman & Wakefield, India.

The proposed deal involves Blackstone and Embassy Group having joint control over an entity engaged in the business of development and management of commercial and office space and related activities.
