Sacred cities see a retail boom as spiritual tourism surge

The surge in spiritual tourism can be attributed to enhanced infrastructure, including well-connected roads, airports, and public transportation, as well as the development of various accommodation options such as hotels, guesthouses, and wellness centres. To meet the growing demand for spiritual travel, local governments and businesses are joining forces to create unique retail experiences. This includes integrating local practices into the design and offerings of shops, restaurants, and hotels. Cities like Amritsar, Varanasi, Madurai, Puri, Guruvayur, etc. are leveraging their unique culinary traditions and local fashion expertise to further attract and engage visitors.

Retail pools continue to display stable performance across various asset classes: ICRA

The vehicle pools are expected to continue their stable performance in the medium term, given the strong domestic economic cycle; financiers would also ramp up the collection efforts in Q4 of the fiscal. However, the impact of the current fluctuations in global fuel prices would be a key monitorable. Microfinance institutions embraced technology-driven collections, post the Covid-19 pandemic, showing positive signs and healthy performance. Secured Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) pools have outperformed unsecured SME pools in terms of collection efficiency and asset quality. Furthermore, the delinquencies in the securitised personal loans pools have remained range-bound, with 90+dpd between 1.6% and 3.4%.

It may not be crashlanding but all’s not well for Indian real estate in 2024

At the beginning of 2024, as the Indian real estate stakeholders (self-styled industry experts within the realty media landscape) are yet again influence peddling their bullish narrative, the reality check by Track2Realty clearly finds that the sales growth post-Covid has neither been broad based nor democratic. Real estate is yet again emerging as a parking lot of big money post the pandemic, as visible with the off-take of luxury & super luxury despite the stagnant job growth and wage growth.

Is a Bear Market possible in real estate?

Stock market is generally defined as the “Bull market versus ‘Bear Market’. In real estate, the expression has generally been all about ‘Bullish Market’, ‘Upbeat market’, ‘Wait & Watch Market’, and ‘Pessimist Market’. ‘Bear Market’ as a term has generally not been used in the context of the housing market. Track2Realty questions why? Is it because a ‘Bear Market’ is just not possible in real estate? Or is it because real estate as an asset class has an altogether different means of cost & benefit analysis.

Realty stakeholders hail Union Budget despite unmet expectations

The Union Budget 2023-24 has by and large ignored the long standing and some immediate concerns (even needs than wants) of the Indian real estate sector. The Finance Minister has not only ignored the supply side of the business, but also didn’t bother to address the demand side, that is the home buyers. Ironically, the leading voices of the sector are still happy with some of the intangible gains even though tangible benefits are non-existent.

Union Budget 2023-24 disappoints real estate

The Union Budget 2023-24 has offered more intangible benefits than tangible gains for the real estate sector. It is hence no surprise that while the average home buyers got busy in their tax calculations immediately after the Finance Minister’s budget speech, the industry stakeholders have by and large given a thumbs up to the budget. A Track2Realty report.

Emerging demand drivers of commercial real estate

Real estate in general and its future growth in particular is defined by its demand drivers. It is relatively easier to forecast the demand drivers in the residential sector. Reason being that the economic activities indicate the migration of the workforce and hence inherent need for housing. However, to forecast the emerging economic activity, both sector wise and region wise, is more often than not guesstimate, finds Track2Realty.

Real estate winners & losers post Covid

When it comes to the recovery of the asset class, the market doesn’t spread its gift with equal generosity. The historic high growth curve of the stock market post Covid crash in March 2020 didn’t make every company’s share valuable. Similarly, in real estate there are certainly some clear winners & losers during the pandemic, finds Track2Realty analysis.
