Will States going to polls reduce Stamp Duty on property?

When the Union Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman, urged the States to cut Stamp Duty rates in her 2024-25 budget presentation, this was by & large seen as a mere headline making statement. Why would States cut the Stamp Duty on property when it is one of the major sources of revenue, was the general feeling in the collective consciousness. DLF is India’s most valuable real estate company with a value of INR 2 lakh crore: GROHE-Hurun India Real Estate 100 Report

DLF has emerged as the top real estate company in the 2024 GROHE-Hurun India Real Estate 100, with a valuation of INR 2,02,140 crore. Following DLF, Macrotech Developers holds the second position with a valuation of INR 1,36,730 crore, and Indian Hotels Company ranks third with INR 79,150 crore. Among the top 10 companies, 60% are headquartered in Mumbai, while two are based in Bengaluru and one each in Gurugram and Ahmedabad.

Indian senior living market potential to touch USD 12 billion by 2030

The median age of the country is likely to gradually increase from about 29 to 38 by 2050. Similarly, the proportion of aged people (above 60 years) is likely to increase from about 11% in 2024 to 21% in 2050. At the global level, over the next three decades (by 2050), of the 2.1 billion people above 60 years, India would account for a 17% share indicating a significant demand growth for senior care including housing in the country.

High Streets emerged as the top leasing choice for luxury brands in 2023, recording over 100% Y-o-Y growth

The overall leasing by luxury brands across the formats stood at 0.6 mn. sq. ft. in 2023, at almost 170% Y-o-Y growth. While High Streets constituted a 45% share in the overall luxury retail leasing in 2023, luxury brands’ stores in Malls followed at 40% and standalone stores accounted for the remaining 15%. This surge in leasing has been accompanied by the entry and expansion of various international luxury fashion, watch and jewellery brands across different locations. The eight cities tracked for leasing include Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Bangalore, Kolkata, Pune, Ahmedabad, Chennai, and Hyderabad.
