Seeking to address the concern of real estate developers over delay in getting approval of the projects, government today announced the setting up of an expert committee to suggest measures for a speedy clearance system.
Confederation of Real Estate Developers’ Associations of India (CREDAI) has brought out a model draft for speedy approval of projects through a single-window clearance.
“We are constituting an expert group to look into the draft of the single window clearance Act. The committee will be headed by an eminent person and have representatives from the industry also. It will submit the report within three months,” Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation Minister Kumari Selja said at the CREDAI conference in New Delhi, Nov 24.
Real estate developers are opposing the government’s proposed Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Bill, 2011, which aims to regulate and bring accountability in real estate sector.
Terming the proposed Bill as “public amusement and developers’ harassment”, CREDAI President Pradeep Jain said “if the Bill is enacted into a law, it will hamper the growth of the industry and it is not industry-friendly.”
However, Selja said “the government is responsive to all concerned but our focus is on aam admi (common man).”
Seeking a single window clearance system in real estate sector, Jain has maintained the system of multiple clearance involving about 40 departments is escalating the cost and delaying the project.
HUPA Ministry has put the draft in the public domain to elicit response from stakeholders.
