Realty major DLF’s Chairman K P Singh, Mahindra group chief Anand Mahindra, and movie actors Amir Khan and Akshay Kumar were honoured at Asian Awards in London last night for the respective achievements.
The Asian Awards, which are given in partnership with Lebara, were launched last year to recognise outstanding achievements of individuals born in or with family origin from India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan or Bangladesh.
Singh, who was conferred with the ‘Pricewaterhouse Coopers (PwC) Entrepreneur of the Year’, for building a world class organization said in a statement that he dedicates the award “to all the young men and women entrepreneurs who are working hard to build a better and stronger India.”
Mahindra was chosen as ‘Lloyds Banking Group business leader of the year’ and Shiv Nadar of HCL Technologies was awarded with the ‘Lloyds Banking Group philanthropist of the year’.
In addition, Akshay Kumar was given the award for his outstanding achievement in cinema, singer Asha Bhosle was conferred with the Kingfisher Airlines lifetime achievement award and Amir Khan bagged the Lebara people’s choice award.
Those who received the awards in the various categories also included Ravi Shankar, Jay Sean, Russell Peters, Irene Khan, Murali, Bunker Roy, Amit Singhal, Freddie Mercury and Meera Syal.
